Having successfully held four editions in Malaysia, Oman, and twice in Thailand, the Philippines has been selected as the host for the upcoming BISC in Manila from January 18-19, 2025. The convention aligns with several United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those relating to health and wellbeing (SDG 3), quality education (SDG 4), and partnerships and collaborations (SDG 17), fostering global awareness and responsibility.
The event format evolves continually, becoming more inclusive with each iteration. BISC 2025 anticipates greater participation, and builds on innovative categories introduced in the previous event, like BISC Innovation Spark (now SparkTank @ BISC), BISC Quantum Quest, BISC Green Revolution Challenge, and BISC RoboQuest. Beaconhouse celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025, making BISC 2025 an even more exciting and pivotal event.
For the upcoming event, country/regional offices are advised to organise pre-event competitions, selecting finalists for January 2025. Participating countries form their teams through in-house competitions, ensuring a wide pool of eligible students. Coordination with local competitions is suggested for seamless selection.
Together, let’s make BISC 2025 a truly enriching and globally connected experience!
“Learning from the Past, Looking to the Future”
Beaconhouse International Student Convention (BISC) brings together students from Beaconhouse schools around the world. As 2025 marks 50 years of Beaconhouse, this year’s theme, ‘Learning from the Past, Looking to the Future,’ draws attention to its remarkable educational legacy. At the same time, Beaconhouse has always remained a learning organisation, with its eye on innovation and growth that serves to make the ever-evolving world a better place.
At BISC 2025, we aim to focus on cultivating an environment that honours the wisdom of the past while nurturing the imagination and potential of our students. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, it is imperative that we empower students to thrive as global citizens, embracing collaboration across cultures and disciplines. This year’s theme emphasises the balance between respecting their cultural, national, and educational heritage and embracing the future, encouraging students to explore their passions and harness their talents in innovative ways.
Learner agency remains a cornerstone of BISC 2025. Students will be encouraged to take ownership of their education, delving into their interests and developing the skills necessary to navigate the future with confidence. BISC will serve as a platform for showcasing entrepreneurial ideas, creative solutions, and interdisciplinary problem-solving, all of which are essential for creating a positive impact in the world.
BISC 2025, themed ‘Learning from the Past, Looking to the Future,’ stands as a testament to Beaconhouse’s commitment to shaping the future of education. By integrating the wisdom of our history with a forward-looking vision, we aim to equip students with the mindset and skills required to thrive in an interconnected, rapidly changing world.
